El Buen Fin: Mexico’s “Black Friday”

The Buen Fin is Mexico’s nationwide sales marathon: think Black Friday/Cyber Monday energy.
If you’re outfitting a Baja place, this is prime time for savings on major appliances, A/C mini-splits, mattresses, and furniture.
During Buen Fin, discounts land on big-ticket items and stores often stack delivery, installation, and warranty promos.
Where to shop IRL (because it’s nice to sit on a sofa before you buy it)
-
- #1! Local mueblerías (furniture stores): Family-run, faster local delivery, custom options. Your pesos stay in town.
-
- Liverpool (La Paz, Cabo): Big appliance/furniture selection, warranty support is decent; but delivery can be… leisurely. But the wait is worth it for West Elm, Williams-Sonoma, and Pottery Barn (Liverpool is their distributor).
-
- Sears México (La Paz): Broad appliance brands, and they love an extended warranty.
-
- The Home Depot (La Paz, Cabo): Go-To for appliances, A/Cmini-splits + installation.
-
- Costco (Cabo): Great on mattresses and appliances; furniture style options are limited but quality holds.
-
- Walmart / Bodega Aurrerá (Loreto, La Paz, Cabo): Budget workhorses and basics.
-
- Coppel / Elektra (Santa Rosalía, Loreto, La Paz, Cabo): Entry-level, fast(ish) delivery, handy for rentals.

Where to shop ONLINE:
Amazon México: Fast shipping on small/medium appliances.
Sears.com.mx
Liverpool.com.mx Great selection, good quality. Delivery takes forever, but rest assured your order will arrive… eventually.
Before you buy:
-
- Measure twice. Doors, stairs, tight turns. Confirm final placement dimensions and leave airflow for fridges/dryers. Your new fridge doesn’t need a sauna.
-
- Power & voltage. Mexico is ~127V/60Hz with US-style plugs. Some gear (electric ovens, dryers, high-capacity A/C) may need dedicated circuits or 240V.
-
- Protect your investment. Baja power can be “moody”. For longer lifespan on fridges, washers, and electronics don’t skip a quality surge protector or voltage regulator.
Get a “Factura” (official invoice):
A factura makes warranties, insurance claims, and even police reports easier, so just ask for one when making a large purchase.
-
- What to say: “Quiero factura, por favor.”
-
- If you have an RFC (Mexican tax ID number): Bring your constancia.
-
- If you don’t: Ask for a factura de público en general; many stores will include your name and address.
“¿Me puede emitir factura con mi nombre y dirección? Si necesitan RFC, podemos usar público en general.”
- If you don’t: Ask for a factura de público en general; many stores will include your name and address.

Sustainability
Baja is beautiful, let’s keep it that way. For energy- and water-smart models you can actually source here, see the 2025 Buyers Guide: Energy and Water Sustainable Appliances for Loreto Bay Homes, developed by the Sustainability Committee of the Loreto Bay HOA through Conserva Loreto (The Ocean Foundation) with Augusto Olmos Mercado (IMPSE Solar). One last thought before you check out:
If Buen Fin puts pesos back in your pocket, consider passing a few forward: a bed for a child, a fridge for abuela’s kitchen, a fan or heater for a rural school. A bit of good neighbor energy can go a long way in your community and change a family’s daily life.
Good luck finding great deals this Buen Fin! And if generosity sneaks into your cart, even better 😉
